Bug Description

Binary package hint: acroread

When printinga PDF wither from the browser (Firefox) or direclty when opening it with Acrobat Reader
the colors are printed incorreclty. No matter what printing quality is defined.
It seems to lack the use of color black.

The printer is HP F4272.
When using the HP Device Manager tool to print the same file the colors are reproduced correctly.

After I tried removing the acroread package v9.2 and installing a more recent version v9.3
but the results are the same.

Thanks for reporting the issue.

To help us track this down further, could you please share a file that reproduces this behavior and the PPD (PostScript Printer Description) used while printing?

Regards,

I'm not sure if I'm have the same problem or not. I'm using a Canon iX4000, and it isn't printing blues in pdf files.

Hi echo-e,

Please attach the pdf file and ppd file used to configure the printer with your next post.
Also, let us know whether you are able to print the pdf correctly to any other printer using Adobe Reader.

 Rishi

Hi,

I confirm this issue. Printer HP OfficeJet J4580, using driver for HP Officejet 4500 g510a-f, hpcups. When printing from acroread the colors are incorrect. When printing the same PDF from 'Document Viewer' everything is OK.

Acroread prints however some pictures correctly, also there are pictures where only some colors are mismatched. Example attached.

I can confirm this problem Acroread with my HP Deskjet 6940, there are massive colour transpositions.

With Document Viewer and HP 6940 things are OK.

With Acroread and an Epson Stylus D88 printing is again OK (or at any rate vastly better).

I can confirm this as well with an HP OfficeJet 6500 Plus, using the HPLIP driver package, on 11.04 (Natty). Printing the same file from eVince produces the correct color output. Telling Acrobat to "Let printer choose colors" half-fixes the problem, but there are still incorrect colors being printed - i.e. the colors printed are closer to what's expected, but still incorrect.

The bug just hit me too, after upgrading to 11.04 Natty. eVince still prints PDFs fine, but the same PDFs printed from Acrobat (acroread) seems to screw any text or the areas of any images that should involve black ink. I am printing to an HP OfficeJet 7410. Using Acrobat 9.4.2-0natty-1 with hplip 3.11.1-2ubuntu2. The problem affects all PDF files I have tried from multiple sources.

I tried all the print options in acroread, like 'let printer select colours', 'level-2 postscript', and even 'print as image', but these didn't help, the same problems with any area of the page that needs black occurs.

Previously on Ubuntu Lucid I could print from acroread with hp-lip to this same printer fine, with no colour problems.

I have verified by using multiple versions of Linux (Redhat, Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora, Centos, etc...) and multiple printers (Dell, HP, Xerox, etc...). Printing from acroread will produce the wrong colors. The biggest issue is that blues come out purple. If you use any other PDF reader (ie: okular), the colors are correct. I've tested multiple versions of acroread up to version 9.4.2. Using the same version numbers in Windows doesn't produce this problem. It is limited to the Linux version of acroread.

I am having the same problem with Adobe Reader 9.4.2, Lubuntu 11.04 and with a HP J4580 printer. Black does not seem to be printing, Red is weak. I have tried changing many settings in Adobe Reader but am unable to fix the problem. Colors print fine from other applications such as LibraOffice, Gimp, and Document Viewer.

Hi, a new acroread release (0.9.4) is available for update, could you give it a try and tell us if the problem persists?
If you still have this bug please set back the status to "new"
thanks
