Installer Freezes in stage: Starting Gnome Display Manager

Bug Description

I'm running the Ubuntu 6.06 i386 installer, It just hangs at this point with a black screen with a white cursor in the top left corner. Let me know what other information would be useful.

(Note; I do have the onboard video card disabled in the BIOS as I want the computer to use only my installed Nvidia 128mb PCI card.)

Of course I should have mentioned I'm on a Dell L700cx with a Sony 19 inch LCD, some Nvidia PCI video card with 128mb, and two hard drives 120 primary IDE and 250 on the cable with the CD-ROM. I have 384 MB of RAM.

Same here: Hp Pavillon dv1251. RAM 1G, Hd 120 G. But instqallation seems to boot afterwards.

We will need more information to be able to follow this up. Has this been seen on Feisty or gutsy. We will also need log files from the installer. This page contains detailed information on uploading log files: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingUbiquity/AttachingLogs (you will have to repeat the install attempt with the same Live CD to get them)
