Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubiquity

lucid alpha2 kubuntu cd, being booted in a kvm on lucid alpha2 ubuntu.
kvm guest set with 2GB of RAM and 2 CPUs, booting from the iso.

I get the language menu and then select install, I get a black screen with mouse cursor (that moves)
and a set of dialog boxes of the form '... has registered a new global shortcut' - and nothing else, alt-f2 does nothing.
ctrl-alt-f1 gets me a console and I can see plasma-desktop appears to be running.

If I try safe graphics mode then instead I see the sequence of icons showing it starting up and then it switches to a
desktop with a panel at the bottom (with some slight misrendering), and a 'Desktop folder' with an 'install Kubuntu 10.04' icon in - but the mouse doesn't move, and it doesn't respond to ctrl-alt-f1.

Something similar happens if I go for 'try without installing'; I get a kdm login and login with user 'ubuntu' but then the behaviour is as above.

The most success I've had is in non-safe mode, I stopped kdm from a console, started X and manually ran plasma-desktop and kwin and it was kind of OKish.
