Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubuntuone-client

Ubuntu One experiences difficulties in establishing a connection between the folders on the computer and the online folders. It is only after a while that the folders online are updated. Furthermore Ubuntu One only shows the folders and claims these to be empty. Ubuntu One seems not able to upload the content.

Hi, I'm sorry to hear Ubuntu One isn't working properly for you. Did you recently change the Ubuntu One user associated on this computer? What I mean is: Did you initially add your computer to Ubuntu One account UserA and then later associate it to Ubuntu One account UserB? If so, please see bug 490988 for a workaround. Thank you, Joshua

Hey Joshua,

I did not use a different account. I made an account when I installed Karmic Koala and got Ubuntu One. I never used it because I never took the time to see what Ubuntu One actually was untill recently. I thought it might be usefull to have some online storage space so I used the connect buton in the folderbrowser to connect with the server etc. Initially it worked well. Untill I added some more folders. It was then that I discovered that the other folders also weren't loaded.

Thanks for the follow up! OK, I think we'll need you to do the following to get a better idea of what the root cause of this problem may be:

   1. Open (or create if it doesn't exist): ~/.config/ubuntuone/syncdaemon.conf
   2. Add the following 2 lines to this file and save:
[main]
log_level = DEBUG
   3. Restart the Ubuntu One client
   4. Copy files into your ~/Ubuntu One folder
   5. Attach ~/.cache/ubuntuone/log/syncdaemon.log and ~/.cache/ubuntuone/log/syncdaemon-exception.log to this bug report

Note that attaching syncdaemon.log will show filenames you are attempting to sync with Ubuntu One. If you do not want this to be public, please mark the bug as private and this bug report will only be available to you and the Ubuntu One team.

Thank you,

Joshua

Hey Joshua,
I followed your steps. I have put the lines in the file. Does it matter where there are in the file?
I also added a folder to the Ubuntu One folder. Doesn't show up in the online storage.
In the attachment the files you asked for.

I added some files to the Ubuntu One folder again. A loose .jpg file and a folder containing some text documents. These were loaded without any problem. So maybe it was a temporary thing?

Hi,

It appears there were problems uploading certain files. It's hard to say what the problem is for sure as it doesn't appear that debug mode is turned on. One thing you might want to try if the problem persists is this:

1. Quit the Ubuntu One client
2. Backup your ~/Ubuntu One folder
3. Delete the files from your ~/Ubuntu One folder
4. Delete ~/.local/share/ubuntuone
5. Start the Ubuntu One client
6. Copy the files and folders from your backed up ~/Ubuntu One/ folder to ~/Ubuntu One

Thank you,

Joshua
