Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

Since upgrading to Lucid, closing the lid blackens the LCD of this Dell D430 laptop, but doesn't suspend or hibernate as set in g-p-m's menu. Opening the lid again, one never sees the gnome-screensaver password input dialog appear. even after furiously hitting any random key or moving the trackpad. Switching to a vcons doesn't produce visual content either, so the only "cure" is to hit ctrl-alt-del while in the vcons to reboot the laptop.

Found my problem was the SD card. If I unmount the card the suspend and recovery work fine.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. A new version of GNOME Power Manager is available on Maverick and we are wondering if this bug is still an issue for you with that version? Could you please test and comment back? Thanks in advance.

The one in Maverick is even worse. The applet dies at random, which obviously result in failure to put the laptop to sleep.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The issue that you reported is one that should be reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the stable release - Oneiric Ocelot. It would help us greatly if you could test with it so we can work on getting it fixed. You can find out more about it at http://www.ubuntu.com/download . Thanks again and we appreciate your help.
