Bug Description

Binary package hint: xchat

Im using ubuntu lucid and
since update of libgtk2.0 from 2.19.1-1ubuntu1 to 2.19.3-1ubuntu1 on jan 15, the channels in the channel tab stay brown and do not change color when they are read (black), highlighted (blue) or a new message (red) arrived.

i downgraded to 2.19.1 with the deb from the launchpad-archive again and the tab-colors work again.

some kind of incompatibility with that updated gtk-library? perhaps something has to be updated in xchat too?

if you need more information, please ask.

an addition for those who have the problem too:

I now use "LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/path/to/extracted/old/libgtk xchat" to start xchat,

because with globally downgraded libgtk gnome will not start.

Note that colors seem to change (i.e. if you get pinged on a channel, you get the "pinged" color), they just don't revert back to the "normal" when you check out the channel. At the end of the day, it makes it very difficult to see any notification.

Confirming that forcing old libgtk in LD_LIBRARY_PATH works around it.

I have the same issue - however, LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/path/to/extracted/old/libgtk xchat, doesn't completely do it for me.

Channel colours do change - mostly - but they don't return to brown to signify there's nothing new in the channel

Fixed for me in todays lucid update... Please reopen if you can still reproduce it.
