Honestly I was shocked when I saw it. Why is it necessary?

Is there any problem with that? This info is showing only once and it will annoy You no more.

I think it is completely unnecessary and in a sense ridiculous. That's why I asked why it was included.
I can live with it, but would be happier if it got removed...

Mariusz, of course it is unstranslated. This is not the same string as in my code. You applied your patch.

As I said previously, your patch will be applied later, for v2.2.0 because it requires translation update (and it is too late for v2.1.0).

So why the bug report?

István Kondor > I don't see why the message is ridiculous. Laws are getting severe regarding P2P and I (and the distro) have to protect themselves from them. The user has to understand that he is the one responsible for the content he shares (and not me, not the distro). My software can be used for piracy and I have no control over it (only the user does).

Users complaining about this kind of messages should open their eyes and read the news. I'm working on my free time on this free software and I don't want to get sued for this because of users bad behavior.

Also, as Mariusz said, this message is only displayed once so there is little harm done.

If you are sure that this will protect you from harassment, then fine, be it.

On the other hand I'm perfectly aware of the "international situation". I wrote that it is ridiculous, because in my opinion it's just way too obvious. Come on, everyone should know that they are responsible for their machines! If we can agree that this is the case, then the message is unnecessary.

If you feel any safer having that message, than be it. As I said, I can live with it. On the other hand I've never heard about any software developer ever being sued because of this. Just my 2 cents...

Vuze, shareaza and Grokster were sued recently (nobody won yet). FYI, Shareaza is quite similar to qBittorrent: It is developed by a single person and it is Free Software.

I do feel safer with this message. It sure is obvious but you know how justice is, it is always better to be precise. BTW, this message was also a requirement for qBittorrent to be introduced in Suse. It shows Linux distributions are concerned as well.
