Bug Description

Binary package hint: brasero

I think this maybe a driver issue. I am unable to mount HP DVD 1140 with any kind of CD or DVD. The following commend on the terminal "sudo lshw -C disk" only showed my hardware drive. it give no information on the DVD. I have even tried this with older disk of Ubuntu 8.04 in the drive. Is there a driver available for this DVD/CD player? Brasero and other CD/DVD softwares are unable to find this drive.

Please advise...

if brasero and other softwares are unable to find the driver then that's not a brasero issue, could be a linux one, this needs to be reassigned.

affects: brasero (Ubuntu) → ubuntu

Vihang,
You have assigned this to the correct package by setting it to Linux. Please also attach an LSPCI output to this case so that we can get a better idea of the hardware involved.

Thanks,

-JFo

Hi Vihang,

This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux 507304

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.
