play/pause button in youtube videos not working sometimes

I've been playing a little bit more with this bug and i think that the cursor changes from "arrow" to "hand" very rapidly... i've seen this bugous cursor behaviour in ordinary hyperlinks... but not with play button in youtube videos. I confirm that clicking the "play" button to start video is easier to do that playing "pause" during video playback. 75% of clicks in the play button starts playing (i reach to this conslussion after a while)... but in order to pause the video i tried to click very fast, moving the cursor, or fixing it in the screen but no coorelation... it seems to be a refresh issue or something like that.

If I click on the play button 10 or 15 times moving it ever so slightly around the same small area it will eventually work but it is very frustrating. same with the full screen toggle.

It is a very annoying problem, especially with ads or annotations. I have a 64 bit processor but using 32 bit Ubuntu. I don't know if that contributes to the problem.

Im using Ubuntu 64 on a 64 bit processor & I have the same problem..I
usually cave & right click "play in youtube"... Ive also noticed the problem
sometimes occurs in youtube tho, always before vid completely loads, which
makes me wonder if this is an isp speed factor..Mine varies 90-750kbps
(Att's dsl)

The only solution i have found was to go here http://www.youtube.com/html5 and join the Beta. The other problem is that if you have a YouTube Playlist, when you play the list it reverts back to Flash.

The solution for me in Ubuntu 10.04 64 was:

$sudo gedit /usr/lib/nspluginwrapper/i386/linux/npviewer

Hi friends,

I have the same problem. When I try to play a video or pause on youtube using left click or touchpad, it does not and I have to use tab for that. This problem is there on almost all the websites. The left click and touchpad doesnt do anything, it seems they are doing but they dont. I tried doing the above solution but I am unbale to edit the file npviewer.
Please advice.

Hello ankitsikka,

You must edit the file with root privileges (admin), open a Terminal, and paste the command:
sudo gedit /usr/lib/nspluginwrapper/i386/linux/npviewer

"sudo" is the command to make things with root privileges, it will ask you for your password.
"gedit" is the text editor
the rest is the route of the file you want to edit with the text editor.

Please describe us what was the problem when you tried to edit the file, so we can help you.

The problem did occur to me again yesterday once on YT.. the procedure fixed
the imbedded ones on Facebook tho, but problem still occurs on other sites
occasionally.
