I'm thinking this is specific to Ubuntu 10.04 and related to gir... but Ed or ubuntu devs should probably comment on this.

Looks like the issue is in the os and/or posixpath module and not in pitivi itself according to the backtrace.

Agreed, that's not a problem on pitivi, it could be related to bug 507106 which is fixed already. closing this task though.
