Bug Description

Binary package hint: lirc

I installed ubuntu 9.10 on my AMD X64 box and all is running fine.

But I currently stuck on starting the LIRC service. It fails with

###
 * Loading LIRC modules [ OK ]
 * Starting remote control daemon(s) : LIRC [fail]
###

'set -x' in /etc/init.d/lirc generated following output:

When I start

   /usr/sbin/lircd -H dev/input -d /dev/input/event5 -n

and in another shell "irw" I can see the key presses of the remote well returned.
I have no further idea why the service fail to start. No related messages are reported in the syslog.

Please find the hardware.conf and lircd.conf together with uname -a and package information below.

Regards
Michael

This is same problem reported in #334414 and #460027. A race condition between /etc/init.d/lirc and udev starting it.
