acroread plugin does not work with firefox in ubuntu

see subject, click on any pdf file and configure firefox to use acroread
plugin

What version of firefox? What version of the acroread plugin? Can you provide a few links that it doesnt work for you so we can try to duplicate the issue you are having? Thank You for your bug report.

This is broken for every version of firefox at least since dapper.

The acroread package has not been updated for a very very long time. There are also security issues because of using such an outdated version (see bug #43385).

The actual problem is described in bug #41787

Please just update the acroread package to get this and probably some other bugs fixed...

I'll try to do some tests, but I'll be away for a couple of
weeks and consequently I won't be able to provide
and example. It may well be a moot issue.
