Bug Description
Binary package hint: ubiquity
When I attempted to install Linux Mint 8 x86_64 ( based on Ubuntu 9.10) onto the second 500GB SATA drive of an HP dc7800, Ubiquity crashed (and the Grub installer failed). The drive was mirrored from the first drive in the original (Ubuntu 8.04) setup but both drives were seen by the system; I think I'd successfully enabled mirroring but never got the system to use the md device, mounting the drive using its original device name instead. No partitions were marked as RAID (all were type 0x83), but as the mirroring appeared to work I used the system in that configuration.

I should mention that the installation succeeded after I disconnected the first drive and attached the second drive to SATA port 0. While I was doing this drive switching (after trying a simple swap) the motherboard of the machine appears to have failed, so the successful install was done on a second machine of the same model. (I transferred the only other addition to the machine, a second network card, to the new machine before performing the successful install.)
