Can anything be done to better streamline the import of this particular package from Debian to Ubuntu?
The content installed is non-executable and relatively volatile localization texts. The schedule Debian keeps is already on the outer border of slow for spreading corrections.

Sync are automatic until DebianImportFreeze now that the package are the same in Ubuntu and Debian.

As lucid is an LTS release, we're syncing from testing rather than unstable.
Once the package is migrated to testing it will automatically be imported in
Ubuntu if Debian Import Freeze isn't in effect.

See the Lucid Release Schedule [1] for more information about the different Freezes.
