The relevant error is

Not replacing deleted config file /etc/samba/smb.conf
Install/upgrade will fail. To recover, please try:
  sudo cp /usr/share/samba/smb.conf /etc/samba/smb.conf
  sudo dpkg --configure -a
dpkg: error processing samba-common (--configure):
 subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

Could you please try the suggested workaround to recover this situation. Set the status of this report to invalid if it fix your issue. Thanks.

Go to Applications -> Accessories -> Terminal
Copy and paste these commands into the window, individually.

sudo cp /usr/share/samba/smb.conf /etc/samba/smb.conf
sudo dpkg --configure -a

This workaround, of course, deletes your existing smb.conf so you lose any customisations you intended to keep.

As explained in the error message, the original problem here is that the user deleted config file /etc/samba/smb.conf by hand. So there is nothing left to lose.
