openoffice icons are drawn, but any mouse movement causes random disappearance. icons reappear only with mouse over.

fresh kubuntu-dapper install with standard nv driver, kde 3.5.3 packages from kubuntu.org and all updates

i am also experiencing glitches with this package:

when i open a text in writer and start scrolling by moving the slider of the scrollbar with my mouse (fast), the display of text that scrolls under tolltips or floating toolbars is broken. this happens only at the start of the scrolling..
when i hold the mousebutton, stop the mouse and move again, no new glitches appear. but when i release&press the button again.. more glitches appear.

this is pretty annoying when i am correcting longer texts.

removing the package openoffice.org-kde solves this problem

Hi All,

I'm not a Ubuntu user however I've noticed the same problem in FC and Suse. The core suspect is the gtk-qt-engine package. If it's removed (or if you disable it's use in the KDE control Panel) your OpenOffice icons will reappear.

I suggest you move this bug upstream to the package owners.

This is a site effect of bug #36256.
It is one of the glitches caused by gtk-qt-engine, which should always be disabled if either xubuntu-desktop or ubuntu-desktop is installed. Right now this does not work if kubuntu-desktop is installed first
