desktop icons dissappeared, file browser icons can not be reinstalled on desktop

Binary package hint: nautilus

desktop icons (folders, external hard drive icons) have dissappeared. icons are located in "desktop-file brower" i can not drag folders from "desktop-file brower" back on to desktop.
i have also lost "right click" ability on desktop screen.

I have the same error. I have SOLVED it writing in a terminal

killall nautilus

Normally nautilus comes again with all the desktop icons.
If it does not comes on, I run it in the same terminal.

This bug affects also 10.04 lucid lynx.
I have observed that it happens when I download something using a terminal (I use youtube-dl) in the home directory, and then using nautilus I move the file into a flash disk.
At the next boot or after the next suspension, icons are gone.
