Bug Description

Binary package hint: flashplugin-nonfree

1) currently (i believe 8.04)
2) I have no idea, since it's hung
I received this error message while upgrading my xubuntu from 8.04 to 9.10.

the last thing that I can see on the distribution upgrade box (since there's a black box cut out of it, is:

File "/usr/lib/python2.5/logging/__init__.py", line 731, in flush self.stream.flush()
IOError: [Errno 9] Bad File descriptor

3) I'm expecting to upgrade my xubuntu from 8.04 to 9.10 using the distribution upgrade dialog.

4) A message dialog came up so I thought id' be nice and send you this in :) Have a great day!

Is anyone going to help me out with this?!? For, at the moment I cannot view / install / uninstall this flash plugin and therefore cannot view any flash content on websites. And it currently says unassigned.

ha, I also tried to sign the code of conduct on launchpad but found out I cannot install gpa to generate my pgp key due to a dependancy on flashplugin-installer!!!

see below:

sudo apt-get install gpa
[sudo] password for ******:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
You might want to run `apt-get -f install' to correct these:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
flashplugin-nonfree: Depends: flashplugin-installer but it is not going to be installed
gpa: Depends: libgpgme11 (>= 1.1.6) but it is not going to be installed
E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt-get -f install' with no packages (or specify a solution).

could someone please help me?

Thanks for this report. What happened when you ran 'apt-get -f install' ? Was that able to fix the issue for you?

When I run "sudo apt-get -f install" I get the error that I should reinstall it before attempting removal, because the package is in a very inconsistent state.

When I follow the advice of the previous command, which is to reinstall the package (sudo apt-get install --reinstall flashplugin-nonfree), I get dependency errors. flashplugin-nonfree depends on flashplugin-installer, but it is not going to be installed.
