Bug Description

When awn is set to style=none the right click menu with preferences-quit-about options cannot be engaged. I also cannot find the quit option in the preferences menu (see attached image). This necessitates a sigterm via cli or a gui to kill awn.

Please ignore this part of the bug (the preferences applet does have a quit option). The right click option for style=none is still broken, however.

How is it broken exactly?

Changed in awn:
milestone: none → 0.4.0
status: New → Incomplete

with the other styles its possible to right click on the edge of the dock and bring up the dialog with the "quit" option. however, with style=none selected this menu option is apparently not available.

As there's no "edge" to right-click on with style none, there's no menu. If you need it, use the preferences applet. We will not add the quit menu option to all the other applet menus.

Michal,
The applet no longer has a quit dialog. AFAIK there is no obvious way to shutdown awn 0.4.0 when style=none is selected. The only option is to issue a sigterm which is not something a newbie should have to perform. A simple solution would be to add a "quit awn" dialog to the settings window.

@Mark Lee
Sorry if moving it "new" was not correct.

I was giving a presentation on an lcd projector and could not figure out how to shutdown awn without dropping to the terminal and issuing "killall avant-window-navigator".

Although there does still seem to be a quit option if you right click the preferences applet the user has to

1) Know that the preferences applet has this functionality
2) Know that right clicking the applet exposes the dialog

None of this is obvious, IMO.

For future reference, (at least for Awn and Awn Extras, I can't speak for any other project) it's generally considered bad form to change the bug status, especially without giving a reason, unless you're either part of the developer team or you've been given permission by a member of said team.

@nanog: So how do you think we can make this obvious?

@michal,
A quit button in the "Awn settings" Dock preferences window (perhaps between About and Close) would make me happy user.

IMO a Quit button next to a Close button (even if it said "Quit Awn") would be very ambiguous and would confuse a significant number of users.

I think a Quit awn menu item on the menu would be an issue. However, I'm
not against a Close Awn button in Awn Settings.

I agree with Mark, I think it'd be more confusing there, not to mention that it doesn't really fit there logically.
