Bug Description

Binary package hint: yelp

Okay, here we go again. I really do hope I'm reporting properly this time.

Yelp crashes when I try to access it from the menu bar or from a terminal. It does work if I access from an application's help menu.

This report was filed with apport reporting enabled. I'm assuming that all the necessary information has been filed or attached.

Just wondering ... after reporting a bug and sending all the asked for information ... what happens? Does some volunteer look at it and decide if it's a real bug or assign in or ???

My Ubuntu has upgraded several packages since this bug was first reported. However, no changes in yelp behavior.

Also, in case someone IS reading this bug report, I can add that, from a terminal, a command like "yelp man:ls" does work. But, "yelp" with no args causes the above noted crash.

It would be nice to get a confirmation that this is indeed a problem and suggestions as to a fix or how I could help the processes of getting it fixed.

affects: yelp (Ubuntu) → rarian (Ubuntu)

I encountered the same problem and this patch seems to fix it. It looks like current_entry could be NULL in some malformed file condition.

Thanks for the report, it has been some time without any response or feedback in this bug report and we are wondering if this is still an issue for you with the latest release of Ubuntu the Natty Narwhal, May you please test with that version and comment back if you're still having or not the issue? Please have a look at http://www.ubuntu.com/download to know how to install that version. Thanks in advance.

I can confirm that it's all fine now. I recently installed (note, fresh install ... don't know about updates) Natty and emacs is working just fine.

Thanks all for the help.
