Bug Description

I don't know what is going on with wicd-1.7.0 beta 4 but I had to uninstall it because this version is totally unusable on my laptop. This version continuously crash dhcpcd (to a zombie process) so I continuously need to reconnect manually to the network. I should be a problem similar to dhclient not playing well with wicd on some PC.

When dhcpcd daemon crash, wicd system tray icon indicates network is disconnected and never try to reconnect even if normally wicd connect automatically to my network.

wicd-1.7.0-b4
dhcpcd-5.1.4

I did not had any major issue with all 1.7.0 alphas versions abd wicd-1.6.2.2 works flawlessly with this version of dhcpcd on this laptop.

Distro : Gentoo (x86_64)

Can you post dmesg output and /var/log/wicd/wicd.log? Thanks

Here is the lot. You have stuff related to versions 1.7.0-a3 (which works fairly well), 1.7.0-b4 (with dropping connections) & 1.6.2 (which works flawlessly) in this log file.

For stuff related to version 1.7.0-b4, when I'm using ioctl back-end, I got DBUS errors (see http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=299674) and with external back-end I have dropping connection

It's a new fishy issue with dhcpcd and wicd as both was working fine together prior to version 1.7.0-b4. Now on this laptop, version 1.7.0-b5 run happily with pump, I still get regular disconnections with dhcpcd (see previously sent log file for details) and wicd is not working at all with dhclient (see included extract from wicd.log file below).

ALL THREE dhcp clients are working fine on this laptop when I launch them from a command line.

For dhclient, something seems to hang or loop forever after wicd launch dhclient. Unless I stop wicd and for all versions of wicd, the last lines of wicd;log file are:
