synaptic will not load

Binary package hint: synaptic

I have a launcher on the panel and when I click on it I get the password box and then it just flashes and does not load.

Trying to load it with "sudo synaptic" in terminal gives'

I am running 10.04-testing-64 on a Dell XPS 420, 3Gb ram, ATI video, Audigy1, Core2quad Q6600(2.4GHz).
