Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-bluetooth

I've got this old USB bluetooth dongle that lsusb shows as

Bus 002 Device 030: ID 0b7a:07d0 Zeevo, Inc. Bluetooth Dongle

sudo hcitool scan discovers my phone successfully. GNOME Bluetooth applet doesn't. Here's what I do:

1. Plug in USB dongle
2. Right-click on the Bluetooth icon in the notification area
3. "Set up new device..."
4. "Forward"

What happens:
- after a few seconds it says "No adapters available" (and the Bluetooth icon disappears from the systray), then after a second it starts searching again (and the BT icon reappears).
- if I went into the Bluetooth properties and changed my device name from "ZeevoEmbeddedDevice" to something sane, after such an unsuccessful search I will find that the name reverted back to the default.

What should happen:
- it should show my phone
- it should not forget my device name

Extra info:
dmesg is rather full of repeating messages like

It might be a kernel bug, but for some reason hcitool scan doesn't trigger it, and gnome-bluetooth does.

[This is an automated message. Apologies if it has reached you inappropriately.]

This bug was reported against the linux-meta package when it likely should have been reported against the linux package instead. We are automatically transitioning this to the linux kernel package so that the appropriate teams are notified and made aware of this issue.

If this bug really is a bug in the linux-meta package you can move it back to linux-meta and tag it kj-linux-meta, or contact us on the #ubuntu-kernel channel on the FreeNode IRC server. Thanks.
