Bug Description

Trying to connect to a custom install of status.net, mustard fails to connect. It just shows an error window with no message. I tried from the same mustard version to connect to identi.ca and it worked.

The access.log from my custom install site tells the mobile tries to obtain this URL ".../api/statuses/public_timeline.json?count=0&since_id=1". I tried this manually in a browser and it is a text file with content "[]". Could this be the problem?

Since this is a custom install of status.net, and though I followed the readme instructions, it may be a problem of the server I installed. Nevertheless, mustard should work as well with my install.

I don't ask you to fix my site, just ask for removing that empty error message and provide something more informative.

In Android 1.5, from an HTC Hero, I tried the market version of mustard, as well as the 1.7.6 apk from the mustard site. Both suffer the same problem.

Seems that your public timeline is empty. Do you have at least one post?
Or is your site private? I never test it before..

Yes, you are right. I have been playing with my install for a while, and now that there are some posts, the login works fine.

I don't know if you want to invest time in debugging this or just want to close the issue. If you want to debug, I volunteer to help in some way

My server installs are in a private network, but I am going to deploy it in a public server. I can send you a reply before any post is ready.

Fine, I will test a login with an empty timeline and try to fix the problem.

A statusnet site is private when you need to login before access any resource. It is an option in config.php, I'll also try to test this scenario.
