Bug Description

Binary package hint: kdeutils

I installed the driver from HP and since then I can't print anymore. Kubuntu sees the printer, it's listed in CUPS and it my printer reacts to printing command. It process the job and then stops. In my printer manager I see the job being process and then it shows "job stopped".

Have no idea what are the packages but I'm using Kubuntu 9.10 (64bits).

I am having a similar problem except I have been unable to print anything. Everything gets stuck. I have a similar architecture but a Gnome desktop. I incorrectly reported the bug in Gedit, but it is clearly in CUPS. My info is in Bug 519965 and 519971. This bug also seems to affect the ink reporting levels. It's as though the system and the printer quit talking.

I figured out the printing problem on my computer. For whatever reason I had changed my printer to HP Office Jet USB series. I changed it back to the regular HP Office Jet that Ubuntu had initially installed and it is all good now. Please disregard my previous comments.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. Ubuntu 9.10 is no longer supported, it would help us a lot if you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version. When you test it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs by running apport-collect -p cups 502778 and provide you cups error log after trying to print as described here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingPrintingProblems#CUPS_error_log
