Thank you for reporting this to Ubuntu. It appears that you have both adobe-flashplugin and flashplugin-installer installed. You only need one of those. Please remove one and let us know if that solves your issue.

I removed the adobe-flashplugin, but I am still unable to view the
slideshow, beyond the first photo.

This is working here on Ubuntu 10.10 "Maverick Meerkat" beta, with Firefox 3.6.10.
