empathy share desktop does not work on UNR, missing packages

Binary package hint: empathy

I am unable neither to accept share desktop invitations or to issue a share desktop invitation to other users. In the former case I get: "Vino doesn't support telepathy", and in the latter I get: "An invitation was offered for service rfb, but you don't have the needed application to handle it".

On an ubuntu desktop distribution (rather than a remix) there is no problem issuing a share desktop invitation (I am not sure if whether there is a problem to accept an incoming share desktop invitation)

as you said works in desktop edition and not in UNR so not exactly an empathy issue

I had this same problem on Karmic UNR, and installing vino and vinagre solved it for me. Maybe those come standard on Ubuntu desktop. Perhaps those should be "recommended" or something by the empathy client.

recommends is strong and would mean that anybody installing the im would get vnc desktop sharing installed, lucid has a suggests on vino which seems about right
