Bug Description

Binary package hint: kdebase

I am running under Gnome.
I can run other KDE applications.
konqueror freezes on start, consuming full CPU.
KDE starts some other processes on the system.
pstree shows
kdeinit4─┬─kio_file
        for one thing.

I do not have enough disk space to load the KDE debug symbols package(s).
I might be able to start with the KDE window manager and see whether it reproduces.

I found out that this only happened when starting with the
filemanagement
profile.
The reason was a dependency on dolphin which is not handled well.
dolphin was absent.
Installing dolphin fixed the problem.
Ideally, konqueror would report the problem rather than hang silently consuming CPU when dolphin is not available.

Hi there!

Thanks for reporting this bug! Your bug seems to be a problem with the KDE program itself, and not with our KDE packages. While we appreciate your issue, it would be better if it was tracked at https://bugs.kde.org, so that the KDE developers can deal with this speedily and have direct communication with you as the reporter for more effective debugging.

Thanks!
