sound failure after suspend

Bug Description
After a suspend (i can't test hibernation as it fails on me) the built-in speakers do not work but the headphone jack IS active. Might alsa sense the jack plugged in all the time?
$ lspci -vvnn|grep -i audio

Sorry about the missing info. The problem has started every since the upgrade to karmic/Ubuntu 9.10/kernel linux 2.6.31. Now I don't know whether this has been fixed in newer kernels but I think such an issue would trigger some backporting so i think not. I will try to test newer kernels over the weekend.
