Bug Description

Binary package hint: avidemux

Since uprading to Karmic it's impossible to convert avi files to mpeg-4 files (the auto IPOD setting). All I get is a box with the error message "Codec Error - Cannot select the MPEG-4 SP codec".

No information except that. This is what I get in terminal:

Oh, I forgot to write that I get the same thing on both my Acer Aspire One and my stationary C2D computer. Both running 9.10. A third computer running 9.04 is not having this problem. I suspect it has to do with the drivers used in 9.10 (for instance ffmpeg or libfaac).

I can also confirm this bug. I'm using Ubuntu: Karmic Koala (9.10) x86 (64-bit). The error is only given in the gtk+ gui, not in the qt gui.

I think following problem is related:
- load .flv file
- select Auto->iPOD
- OK in Autowizzard
==>Pop-up window "Cannot find MPEG-4 SP codec"

The strange thing is that the same action works with Avidemux-qt.
- load .flv file
- select Auto->Apple iPod
- OK
==> No pop-up window and good conversion when we "save"

So I suppose there is something wrong in the way Avidemux-gtk+ is compiled.
I hope this information helps to locate the problem

Confirming this bug in Lucid. Works fine with "avidemux-qt", fails with the Gtk-version.
