Bug Description

OK I was using the terminal trying to install the new pidgin from their website, following their instructions, which were as follows:...

1)*sudo apt-key adv --recv-keys --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com \ 67265eb522bdd6b1c69e66ed7fb8bee0a1f196a8*

2)*echo deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/pidgin-developers/ppa/ubuntu \ `lsb_release --short --codename` main | \*

3)* sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/pidgin-ppa.list *

When I tried the second command, the terminal froze, so I killed the window (" 'with the 'force to quit command' "), And then I tried doing it again, following the steps, but once again it did not work, so I just bailed. After I got mad, I tried to run the update-manager, and the following happened...

Could not initialize the package information

An unresolvable problem occurred while initializing the package information.

Please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the following error message:

'E:Type 's' is not known on line 5 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list.d/pidgin-ppa.list, E:The list of sources could not be read.'

so here I am!

This appear in message/warning a window, and it did not let me use the program, instead it jus close the application.

So anyway, I hope you guys can help me!

Thanks.
