Bug Description
Many times have I installed Ubuntu for someone, only to leave them to their own devices and screw up the system by installing old applications (like the Emerald themer) or non-GNOME apps (KDE apps, XCFE apps..)
I'm sick and tired of having to go through the entire repo and tell users what they can and cannot install.
As such, I wish for the abilty in the package manager (both Synaptic and Ubuntu Software Centre) to hide away applications not designed to work with the current DE (like Amarok, for instance) as I'm often spending my time nowadays sorting out the mess on these older machines not capable of handling multiple DE's,
