Bug Description

I have been trying to load Ubuntu Studio from a DVD and I get this error Load debconf preconfiguration file failed to retreive the preconfiguration file the file needed for preconfiguration could not be retrieve from file: ///cdrom/preseed/ubuntustudio.seed the instalation will proceed in nonautomated mode. The instalation never gets past this point and I have downloaded Ubuntu Studio from several sites several times. I have used several DVDs and even bought a new burner thinking it was the burn process. I have run out of things to try and would like some help with this install. I have tried to update things and it seems that a lot of other things will not work. They are showing in the applications area but when you click them they do not open. The original down load of Ubuntu went just fine but the install of Studio has been a night mare to say the least. I am trying to install 9.10 Studio

Packages will not install due to the system thinking there is no internet but this is not the case.

How is this a duplicate of 480455? I see nothing that is the same. Nothing is even typed in the description except for hkjhksd. If I am missing something here please tell me, but this bug 480455 makes no sense to me.

I've marked this report as duplicate of 480455 because, from your log file, the error is:
-----
Setting up openmpi-bin (1.3.2-3ubuntu1) ...
update-alternatives: error: alternative mpiexec can't be master: it is a slave of mpirun
dpkg: error processing openmpi-bin (--configure):
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 2
-----

and it's been reported against openmpi. There is no error regarding ubuntustudio.

However if you believe this is not the main issue that you're experiencing, I have no clue about what's been wrong and let a triager more knowledgeable than me with Ubuntustudio and preseed handle this report.

Thanks again for your time.

Ubuntu Studio 9.10 is no longer supported. I have tested installs for the last three releases, and could not reproduce this issue. Therefore I am setting the status to invalid.

If you can confirm that the bug still occurs for a current release, please reopen, or resubmit a new bug.
