Bug Description

Binary package hint: mozplugger

After upgrading my ASUS Netbook to Ubuntu "Karmic" 9.10 and installing mozplugger version 1.12.1-1ubuntu1 I noticed that the pdf documents I open from the web nol onger get embedded into the browser window. Under Ubuntu "Jaunty" 9.04, installing mozplugger was sufficient to make this work.

A few Google searches turned up a fix (workaround?): http://www.uluga.ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=8295142&postcount=44

This posting suggests adding a line to the /etc/mozpluggerrc file in the PDF stanza:

---
application/pdf:pdf:PDF file
application/x-pdf:pdf:PDF file
text/pdf:pdf:PDF file
text/x-pdf:pdf:PDF file
 repeat noisy swallow(evince) fill: evince "$file" # added line
 ACROREAD()
 repeat noisy swallow(kpdf) fill: kpdf "$file"
 repeat noisy swallow(Xpdf) fill: xpdf -g +9000+9000 "$file"
 repeat noisy swallow(okular) fill: okular "$file"
 GV()
 repeat noisy fill exits: evince "$file"
---

The added line above is just before "ACROREAD"

Now when I follow links to pdf documents on the web, they are embedded in the Firefox browser window as expected. I have been poring through the man page for mozplugger and do not completely understand the purpose of the existing evince line, so I suspect there might be a better or more efficient fix to this issue.

I forgot to add that laptop is running Ubuntu 9.10 NBR (Netbook Remix), in case that makes a difference.

also I wrote "upgraded" but this is a clean install.

P.S.: Since adding this I have had a few instances of Evince complaining it had crashed and offering to "rescue" the documents where I had only closed the browser window.

I am wondering if the new evince command in mozpluggerrc needs an additional mozplugger command like the "exits" command that already existed.
