Bug Description

Binary package hint: netbeans

I am using Ubuntu 9.10 and Netbeans 6.7.1 will not start. The Iced Tea version of Java was installed in uninstalled Iced Tea since I prefer to use Sun's own Java. My Java is installed and working if I type "Java -version" I get Java version 1.6.0.15. However, now when I try to open netbeans I get a task bar at the bottom window which says "Starting Netbeans IDE..." but nothing happens. Do I need Iced Tea Java to run Netbeans, I don't want to use Iced Tea Java.

Please see comments for https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/464939. You have to update /etc/netbeans.conf file to point to the sun java.

See http://wiki.netbeans.org/NetBeansUserFAQ#Configuration for more details how to setup JDK used to run IDE. Shortly you can set JDK used by IDE either in
a) /etc/netbeans.conf (uncomment modify line starting with netbeans_jdkhome="", put path to JDK home dir into double quotes eg. netbeans_jdkhome="/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun-1.6.0.16"
b) on command line: netbeans --jdkhome /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun-1.6.0.16
