Yes, it has happened 5 or 6 times over the past couple of weeks.

Just play Freecell for some time, without exiting and with little else
going on. It takes some time, like 45 minutes. I believe I read mail
with evolution and may have used Seamonkey.

After playing for a while, an outline of a moved cars(s) follows the
cursor. The move completes successfully and after 10 to 15 seconds, the
screen update completes. This continues until Freecell is exited. It
takes several seconds, like 15 or 20 before the Freecell display exits.

Other activity on the system seems normal. It is like this one
application becomes disconnected for several seconds and then resumes.
I have not noticed this with other applications.

This may be very difficult to trace. Anything I can do to help?

I have the "Freecell Slow" situation now.

What can I do to help in resolution?

I started Freecell and played for an hour, or so.

When I drag a card from one stack to another, the outline of the card
repeats in the cursor path multiple times until the mouse button is
released. For several seconds, the trail is visible.

xorg appears to be using 27% of 4G RAM.

This may be a memory leak.

My last post indicated xorg was using about 27% of 4G RAM.

1. Reboot.
2. Start xterm with top
xorg was using 0.3% of 4G RAM
3. start Freecell and play

        mem % mem %
Time xorg sol
reboot 0.3
1205 0.6(?) 0.3
1220 4.9 0.6
1236 7.5 0.9
1241 8.1 0.9
1246 8.9 0.9
1248 9.5 0.9
1251 10.1 0.9
       etc.

There was no other activity on the system.

After a reboot, it took a very long time to repeat.

After several hours, (read happy kids), the slow drag with trail
repeated.

Xorg is using 21.1% of memory and it takes tens of minutes to repeat,
not hours!

After exiting Freecell, the xorg memory use stays over 20%.

So, it appears there is a memory leak, somewhere.

What can I do to help with this?

I can confirm this bug. And it is serious. After 40 minutes or so of playing, whole user session is killed so all unsaved data is lost!

I looked at process list, virtual memory usage, and found that problem is _dragging_ card. Take one card, drag it around with mouse and look X server virtual memory jumping from 100 to 600 MB before user session is killed. Also, I noticed that dragging is problem only when performed over other cards. If you drag card at the bottom of the window, under everything else, there are no memory leaks.

I do not believe this bug is a duplicate of 450832.
I have never experienced an X logout while playing Aislerot Solitaire.

There appears to be a memory leak that coincides with aisleriot becoming
very slow.

This bug is NOT a duplicate of 450832.

I have never experienced an x-session logout or any other system malfunction other than aisleriot becoming very slow and xorg memory use increasing to about 1G.

Exiting aisleriot does not cause xorg to release the memory allocated.

There is no other activity on the system.

Please remove the duplicate tag.

Thank you.
