Hmmm I had the same problem, in the past I have had a much better experience with ReiserFS than the more traditional filesystems such as ext2 and ext3 (infact even the relatively new JFS didn't take long before becoming corrupt). So when coming to install I wanted to use the most dependable filesystem ReiserFS, I originally used the new Live CD installer but the partitioning tool did not allow one to format in to ReiserFS and I really do not know why as it is in the kernel so I had to use the text based installer instead.
The only thing that concerns me is that this may have been done purposefully and in which case I shall have to change distributions if there is no work around (like the one I had to use for Dapper) in future releases.
