Bug Description

Binary package hint: totem

Open Totem side menu tab YouTube.
Search for any keyword e.g. 1200 limos
(sometimes while searching the window greys out already).
Double click on a video to open.
The whole interface darkens back for minutes until finally it loads the video.
Attached strace.

Thank you for your bug report. The issue is an upstream one and it would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug the to the people writting the software (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME)

Please try to obtain a backtrace of that hang following the instructions at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash and upload the backtrace (as an attachment) to the bug report. This will greatly help us in tracking down your problem.

Since the link says:

I've installed totem-dbg; gdb was already installed.
(I didn't like the idea to add lots of repositories for dbgs.)
But the terminal output said:
Reading symbols from /usr/bin/totem...Reading symbols from /usr/lib/debug/usr/bin/totem...done.
(no debugging symbols found)...done.

When the window greyed out and interface was unresponsive I've pressed ctrl+c, as advised in Backtrace.

Thanks for the reminder Kamus, I've obviously missed the message from Pedro.
It isn't an issue anymore in 10.10, don't know about 9.10 which I've reported on, but upstream says it's fixed.
