Bug Description

The version of apticron in Intrepid introduced a feature where it could be configured to only send e-mail when there were package updates it hadn't previously notified you about. This is as opposed to version 1.1.20, where apticron will send e-mail any time there are pending updates when it runs (which results in getting a second e-mail if you didn't take the updates the first time)

There are builds of the package in my PPA (https://launchpad.net/~broder/+archive/ubuntu-tests) for Hardy. I've verified that the packages b/i/r and tested basic functionality by running apticron after downgrading a package to verify that I was still notified.

It looks like this bug requests a backport from Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid
Ibex). However, as Intrepid is no longer supported, such a backport is
no longer possible.

This bug is being set to "Won't Fix". If you would still like to move
forward with this backport request, please re-open the bug and adjust
it to request a backport from a current release.
