Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.

Please forgive me but I am not exactly clear what the problem is. Please answer these questions:

* Is this reproducible?
* If so, what specific steps should we take to recreate this bug?

Please provide as much detail as possible. This will help us to find and resolve the problem.

yes, these are my steps when do it

install festvox-kdlpc16k which install all needed pkg

install kttsd of course.

then run kttsmgr, add a talker. form synthesizer select the "festival
interactive" then ok

select audio tab
select ALSA with default device, Phonon has never worked in kubuntu for me but
ALSA does. debian Phonon works and other distros but not kubuntu.

then go back to talker and open the talker and edit the entry then hit test.
it should work.

now have something coped to your clipboard and right click on the kttsd icon
in your icon tray then select "speak clipboard contents". it should speak it
however mine does not. i have tryed deleting my kde profile and recreating it
but no help. i hope this helps

and thanks for looking in to this so fast.

I am sorry but I cannot reproduce the problem on 2 other machines which indicates this is a configuration problem. I personally suspect you should contact support or convert this bug into a question and look for assistance from the community. In either case I am new to triaging and my inexperience says I should leave your ticket categorized as NEW until another triager makes a disposition or a triager with more experience troubleshooting this issue can help.

Yes. I could not recreate the problem on a vanilla installation of Kubuntu 9.10 x86_64. I was able to read the clipboard using the steps described without issue.

Well,

I had ktts working fine in Karmic and setup Lucid on the weekend. I can't get ktts to work again with the mbrola voices. They are now in the repo and I also installed them, in the kttsmgr they don't show up when I try to add a new speaker.

This worked great in Ubuntu 7.04, but I can't get it to work in Ubuntu 10.10 Desktop 64bit edition.

Also, the kttsd manger is NOT in my menu, as it is supposed to be, under:
Applications > Universal Access
