Bug Description

Bug 395654 was marked fixed because (I guess) I was able to work around it with much hackery and luck. Unfortunately just because I was able to hack around it, doesn't mean it is fixed in general for all users of hplip, so I figured I ought to submit a new bug since the default ppd file as released will still not print a dvd without clipping. (At least I haven't noticed a fix in the hplip released in fedora 12).

See http://home.att.net/~Tom.Horsley/dvdp/dvd-success.html for the entire saga with all the details for how I lucked into a solution. (I'd still like to know how ImageableArea really and truly interacts with the printer driver so I can understand what I did).

I'd like to add that I attempted your solution and obtained completely different results with my C5580.

You might try to adapt the .ppd file like I did for my c5380. My patch for the hpcups .ppd for the Photosmart C5380 can be found attached to the bug report:

In particular, I think that the \cupsReal0 and \cupsReal1 (which define the overspray setting for borderless printing) settings are important to get rid of the clipping.

With those changes applied, printing to DVD works fine, except when you select the DVD tray as the default tray (the filter will then ignore that tray default and NOT use the DVD tray). That's an unrelated bug, though.

Cheers,
Reinhold
