at first installation Ubuntu9.10 printer and scanner functional. After first update (gen14, now at sen16) all down. HP Photosmart C4380 series

Sie verwenden Ubuntu 9.10 - Karmic Koala - freigegeben im Oktober 2009 und unterstützt bis April 2011.

xsane 0.966-2ubuntu1.1

That everything would be identified now and work, after update.

origially everything workt, first update only printer available, last update to 0.966 nothing goes anymore. Printer is registered and identified but : Unable to open the initial device, quitting.
scanner can't be found.

As per https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases your release is EOL.
