Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubiquity

Description: Ubuntu lucid (development branch)
Release: 10.04

ubiquity:
  Installed: (none)
  Candidate: 2.1.4
  Version table:
     2.1.4 0
        500 http://ca.archive.ubuntu.com lucid/main Packages

I expected the system to go to reboot, eject/prompt the ejection of the disk, and then complete. It instead went into reboot, but stopped before prompting the ejection. There was no apparent disk activity.

Did you try to press the enter even if the prompt did not display?

Yes I have. It might have been a minor hiccup, I could re-try the install just to be sure.

Just finished the install, it restarted.

It might have been a one-time error, so I was unable to reproduce it.

I experienced this in VirtualBox installation on the Xubuntu lucid-desktop-amd64.iso during testing. The installation completed, I clicked the restart button, the system appeared to restart and hung. There was no further activity. I had to reset the VBox machine to continue the restart.

Charlie,
I did have same issue, but i press the enter key and the system restart. Seems to me that this is a cosmetic problem more than actually fail to restart the system.

Thanks for reporting this bug and any supporting documentation. Since this bug has enough information provided for a developer to begin work, I'm going to mark it as confirmed and let them handle it from here. Thanks for taking the time to make Ubuntu better!

Even if it did retart for one individual, it fails for two of us.

This also happened to me on two virtualbox VMs while testing Ubiquity.

I'm using the latest daily builds as of 10 March.

One VM was installed with Ubuntu Desktop amd64 and the other was installed
with Kubuntu 32.

In both cases, I chose "Free Software Only" from the F6 Options menu in the
boot menu.

IN both cases, the reboot did not happen, even though it started.

Check the /var/log/messages file I attached above for info regarding this.

and FWIW, 537094 is a dupe of this with my logs attached, since apport-collect refused to allow me to attach them here.

Also, bug 537094 updated with new logs from Kubuntu 32bit. Still fails to reboot with ubiquity 2.1.35 and the 12 March daily build.

Is there any reason why this bug is still open?
