Bug Description

Binary package hint: evince

With Ubuntu 9.10's Evince 2.28.1-0ubuntu1.2, ~/.gnome2/evince/ev-metadata.xml cannot be read. This prevents Evince from remembering the state of previously-opened documents, such as the page number and zoom setting. Deleting ~/.gnome2/evince/ and allowing Evince to recreate it on next launch does nothing -- ev-metadata.xml is not recreated, though ~/.gnome2/evince/print-settings is.

The problem seems to be related to AppArmor, for if one creates a symbolic link from /etc/apparmor.d/disable/usr.bin.evince to /etc/apparmor.d/usr.bin.evince and restarts AppArmor, the issue disappears. Prior to my Ubuntu 9.10 upgrade, the version of Evince included with Ubuntu 9.04 worked fine.

I learned of the fix here (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1312025), where two other users are suffering from the same issue.
