lyx 1.6.4 freaks out, consumes all memory, is killed by OOM killer

Bug Description

Binary package hint: lyx

This has happened several times yesterday and today while writing a small paper:
Lyx becomes unresponsive, consumes 100% CPU, allocates more and more memory, is finally killed by the OOM killer.

kern.log shows:

Seems to be fixed in lyx 1.6.5 in Lucid.
