Bug Description
Binary package hint: x11-common
Since a few days, after updating to ureadahead, my kdm login didn't worked any more. I could find a workaround to it, but in the end i didn't found out what all that had to do with ureadahead.
I already posted a lot about this problem here:
http://
and here:
https:/
So to me is seems like x11-common version 1:7.4+3ubuntu10 and gdm try to detect if the x-session starts correctly and if not they try to start a failsave session.
So if you have kdm and gdm installed, because of something gdm and x11-common doesn't seem to detect the running kdm session and try to start an failsave x11-session.
By this, you get a black screen with a non blinking cursor on the upper left.
As a workaround, you can:
- switch to gdm OR
- uninstall gdm OR
- downgrade x11-common to 1:7.4+3ubuntu7
This all happend on a system which was updated from 8.10 to 9.04 to 9.10. I'm using all the KDE-Stuff (including kdm) but Gnome is installed too.
If you need more information, please take a look at the links I posted. There is also some stuff from my xorg.log!
Thanks!

Hi colaflash,
Please attach the output of `lspci -vvnn` and `dmesg`, and attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log (and maybe Xorg.0.log.old) file from after reproducing this issue. If you're using a custom /etc/X11/xorg.conf please attach that as well.
