Bug Description

Binary package hint: groff

This is on Ubuntu 9.10.

When trying to generate a Postscript file from a man page, I got this error message:

eeepc-ubuntu:/usr/share/groff/1.20.1/tmac% man -t man >/tmp/man.ps
/usr/share/groff/1.20.1/tmac/ps.tmac:689: can't find macro file `europs.tmac'
eeepc-ubuntu:/usr/share/groff/1.20.1/tmac%

At that time package groff-base but not package groff was installed. The file was indeed missing from the file system.

After that I installed the package groff and the problem went away. The file europs.tmac now exists.

The versions of groff and groff-base involved are these:

ii groff 1.20.1-5 GNU troff text-formatting system
ii groff-base 1.20.1-5 GNU troff text-formatting system (base syste

This seems to be identical to Debian bug 546844. As indicated in that bug report, the file europs.tmac should be in package groff-base and not in package groff.

Hmm, yes. Already fixed in Lucid, but this probably merits an update to Ubuntu 9.10.
