Notify-osd and notification-daemon notifications show up completely messed

After upgrading to 9.10 from 9.04 all notifications from notify-osd are completely illegible.

I tried this with both notification-daemon and notify-osd, the problem appears in both.

Seems it is a display adapter driver bug? Also Openoffice Impress suffers from a similar display bug; Menus show illegible characters and also characters are illegible when I try to edit a field in a slide. Also this was fine in 9.04.

This is IBM Thinkpad T41. With Ubuntu 9.04 and notify-osd the notifications worked fine.

Since your lspci.txt shows that you have a Radeon Mobility 7500 graphics chipset, this is definitely bug #426582. See that report for some more information and possible workarounds.
