Bug Description
Binary package hint: pidgin
When my MSN account is active in pidgin, about once per second there's a bunch of exchanges over dbus where a new connection comes on the bus, says Hello, asks GConf for an IOR and disconnects. The IOR doesn't seem to change. Disabling the MSN account stops the stream of exchanges, re-enabling it starts it again.
Perhaps it should just ask once and store the returned value? If the IOR can change, subscribe to the relevant "change" signal? If it must be polled, perhaps somewhat less frequently than the roughly three times per second that I'm seeing?
Typical exchange:
signal sender=
string ":1.12692"
string ""
string ":1.12692"
method call sender=:1.12692 -> dest=org.
method call sender=:1.12692 -> dest=org.
method return sender=:1.2 -> dest=:1.12692 reply_serial=2
string "IOR:0100000016
