Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubiquity

Just downloaded today's build of Kubuntu 10.04 64 bit. Md5sum fine. Integrity check fine.
Try to install Kubuntu and screen corruption occurs after about 1 minute of starting installation (see attached screenshot). The Installer crash message displayed ocuurs immediately afterwards (I've also included that as I may introduce a few errors when copying it. The crash info:
Traceback (most recent call last):

main(oem_config)

if os.path.isfile(file):
File "/usr/lib/python2.6/genericpath.py", line 29, im isfile
st = os.stat(path)
TypeError: coercing to Unicode: need string or buffer, type found

I can't include the /var/log/syslog and /var/log/partman as they haven't been generated yet.
The displayed crash window will not close, so I have to perform a hard reset.

How do I do this on an installation disk when the /usr/lib/ubiquity/plugins/ubi-intro.py file does not exist on the CD ?

Merci Jean-Louis, the workaround worked. I had to run a live session (Try Ubuntu) in order to edit the file as per your post.
